Peace Week ATL 2022

“October will be Just Peace Month in the City of Atlanta, beginning with our second-ever Peace Week ATL! I invite all Atlantans to join us in events, activities, and conversations throughout the city designed to amplify the efforts of our communities to build greater peace and grapple with violence, trauma, and safety. Each of us has a vital role to play in creating the peace we want to see in our homes and neighborhoods. Together, we will strengthen the social fabric of Atlanta in the shared spirit of peacebuilding and nonviolence.”

Mayor Andre Dickens

Event

Mayor Andre Dickens’ Just Peace month and Peace Week ATL are designed to amplify the efforts of our communities to rebuild and strengthen the social fabric of Atlanta as we grapple with violence, trauma, and safety. Mayor Dickens and community partners will participate in events throughout the month of October designed to center and amplify the efforts of residents to build greater peace in their communities.

Mayor Andre Dickens’ Just Peace month is a special initiative designed to build awareness of and support for peace-building, justice, and public safety and wellness practices throughout Atlanta. Just Peace month begins with the Mayor’s second-ever Peace Week ATL, followed by additional peacebuilding events and activities throughout the month of October.

Peace Week ATL is a week of events, activities, and conversations that help build awareness of and support for peace-building practices in Atlanta. The purpose of Peace Week ATL is to rebuild and strengthen the social fabric of Atlanta as we grapple with violence and safety. The second Peace Week ATL will take place on October 2-8, 2022. To continue this spirit, additional peace-building and public safety activities will also take place throughout the month of October.

Peace Week ATL and Just Peace Month aim to:

  1. Identify resources for communities to promote peace, reconciliation, and restoration.
  2. Build awareness of and support for community and interpersonal peace-building practices, trauma-informed service opportunities, and links between violence, place, and public health.
  3. Build awareness of and support for the elements of the Mayor’s One Safe City plan.
  4. Amplify peace-building commitments and opportunities to collaborate across communities.
  5. Encourage personal action for inner peace as a strategy to combat interpersonal violence.
